Discrimination Claims

Whether you have been discriminated against in the workplace on the basis of your race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability status, pregnancy, need for a medical leave, marital status, caregiver responsibilities, color, national origin, gender identity, or religion, we have the expertise to guide and protect you.

Harassment Claims

Do you think your boss or colleague has crossed the line with you? There's no need to sit and wonder if anything can be done about it. Call our firm and we will evaluate if unprofessional workplace behavior has crossed the line and become unlawful and legally actionable.

Employment Contracts & Severance Review

If you have been offered a severance or have an employment agreement contract on the table, and you need your own employment attorney to review the terms and consult with you, you have come to the right place. Reach out to learn more about our billable rates and fee structure.

Agency Charges

Have you brought a charge before the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, the EEOC, or a local municipal agency like the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, and you are hoping to have a lawyer step into the process? We can help prepare written responses and provide limited representation throughout the agency process, including providing representation during mediation within the agency.

Severance Negotiations

Has your work environment become untenable? Or, even if you are content, has your company approached you regarding the possibility of a severance? We can step in, advise on your options and help you negotiate a fair exit.

We are ready to help you.

About Carthew Law, PLLC

Welcome! My name is Alexandra Carthew, but my friends call me Ali.

After years working for big, corporate firms, I founded Carthew Law, PLLC to fight for what really matters: people.

To make help accessible in a time when most people's resources are strained, I offer free and confidential initial  consultations. Because I also understand many of my clients are not in a position to pay for an attorney, I offer contingent fee representation where my work is compensated only after I successfully resolve your matter, with no upfront retainer fees.

I was recently nominated to Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2025. I graduated first in my class in law school, where I served as Editor in Chief of the Law Review and won awards for trial advocacy. Upon graduation, I was inducted into the the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers. I then worked directly for a Justice on the North Dakota Supreme Court, and from there I worked at several large corporate firms. They were excellent firms, but I wanted to feel my work was helping people in a more meaningful way. So, I made the jump from corporate employment defense to representing employees. This is where I truly found my calling.

My clients are everything to me here at Carthew Law, PLLC. I ensure each client gets the time and attention they deserve. I am able to get to know my clients as people, not just case file numbers, because of my commitment to a sustainable caseload. Plaintiff-side firms can carry an unsustainably high volume of active matters. The result? A lawyer who can be hard to get ahold of, provides few updates, and is slow to respond. But here at Carthew Law, I have made a commitment to my clients: the volume of casework taken on will never exceed my ability to be a dedicated advocate able to provide diligent, effective, and highly responsive representation for each and every one of my clients.

Challenges in employment can lead to some of the darkest and most stressful points in people's lives. Having a strong advocate who not only understands the law but also just gets it, and will truly walk alongside you, makes a world of difference.

If there is a way I can help you, I want to. Even if you are not sure you need an attorney, reach out. It is free and confidential to tell me a bit about your situation.

I really look forward to connecting with you.

- Ali
